Holbox

Holbox is an island located in the northeastern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula in the state of Quintana Roo. It is part of the Yum Balam ecological reserve, separated from the mainland by the Laguna de Yalahau. Holbox is 43 kilometers long and its beaches are composed of fine sand beautiful seashells are constantly brought to the edge of the beach. Jade green waters of the Gulf of Mexico that are friendly bathe these beaches for swimming.
On this island there is only a small village, also called Holbox, where less than 1,500 people live now. With sandy streets and wooden houses, it is one of those places for postcard type. Most people are fishermen. The species they caught are grouper and barracuda. These fishermen also catch lobster and octopus in season. As you can imagine, the seafood sold in local restaurants are fresh and delicious.
